![]() Might be a challenge to find ones that are speed loader compatible but they also tend to be a custom product so you can speak with the maker for options. They kind of lock your hand into the gun for single action shooting where it’s ergonomic to thumb the hammer. The other thing I would look into is finding bullseye style grips. I find the hks ones are fine to use one handed. If you go double action I would suggest getting a loading block. A lot of great revolvers are surprisingly affordable. ![]() Go to some shops that sell used guns and try out some stuff. If you want center fire I would get a 38 special double action like the colt officers model match, smith and Wesson model 10/12/14/15/64/67/68. Older smith double actions like the model 17 would also be great, especially with the wider target hammers. The new smith and Wesson 617 have 10 shot capacity and a k frame size. I would look for a rimfire double action revolver. There’s a lot of nice ones out there that are pretty good for shooting one handed. If I was planning to shoot one handed only I would get an aftermarket grip. ![]() If you don’t want to shoot that much ammunition to smooth out the trigger, you can send it to Chiappa and they can install a competition trigger kit that they WON’T sell directly to a customer, but if you have a friend that has an FFL, I THINK they will sell the competition trigger kit to an FFL. If you’re looking for a centerfire, as was mentioned, a Chiappa Rhino is a joy to shoot because the barrel is at the bottom, but, as with most “stock” guns, in my opinion, the trigger pull isn’t great, but, from what I’ve heard from fellow shooters, after about 5k rounds through them, the triggers settle in and smooth out to about 7#. One of my friends has a 617, with a 6” barrel that unless you have a grip like a gorilla can hardly hold up because the full lug, underneath the barrel makes it muzzle heavy. ![]() I have an older S&W 17-4, 22 rimfire, with an 8 3/8” barrel that I believe someone must have done some trigger work on because the single action is less than 2#, and the double action is about 6#. ![]()
